Agrivoltaic System

Obermayer

Bavaria’s first vertically mounted agri-photovoltaic system. The entrepreneur and organic farmer Franz Obermayer Senior, together with his son Franz, is the initiator of this flagship project.

On an area of four hectares, organic grain is cultivated while solar power is generated at the same time. The system is supported by a 1.3 MWh FENECON storage unit and serves as a model project for sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.

The requirement was to store surplus PV energy and release it according to demand.

Customer profile:

  • Obermayer Energie GbR
  • Sustainable agriculture, vertical agri-PV
  • Kirchweidach/Edt - Germany

Existing systems:

  • Agri-PV system 800 kWp
  • 1,700 vertical modules
  • 1.20 meters above ground
  • Arranged in rows 600 meters long

Project details:

  • FENECON Industrial L
  • Power: 736 kW
  • Capacity: 1,288 kWh

Results:

  • Avoidance of grid expansion
  • Enables overbuilding of the grid connection point
  • Increase in marketable green electricity

Conclusion:

The storage system collects energy during the day, when there is already a surplus of PV power in the grid and prices are low. It then releases the energy when prices are highest. This creates additional revenue potential through electricity trading and increases the overall profitability of the system.
